Set up a Monzo, Starling or Tide bank feed into a client's Xero

The problem

Clients send CSV statements late, or not at all.

The result

Transactions arrive in Xero automatically from the client's bank, ready to reconcile.

Option 1: Monzo Business

  1. Client needs Monzo Business Pro or Team.
  2. In the Monzo app: + > Connect accounting tool > Xero (or Integrations on the web).
  3. Choose whether to sync up to 12 months of history. Skip it if you already imported those lines.

Option 2: Starling

  1. In the Starling app: Marketplace > Browse > Accounting > Xero > Add.
  2. Log in to Xero, pick the organisation, the Xero bank account and the start date.
  3. Diary a reminder: Starling asks for re-authorisation every 90 days.

Option 3: Tide

  1. In the Tide app: Admin > All Actions > Accounting integrations.
  2. Connect Xero, then map Tide categories to Xero accounts if the client uses the Xero Connector.

Get AI to help you build it

Paste this into ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini or Claude:

Write a short, friendly email from a UK bookkeeper asking a client to connect their business bank feed to Xero. Include step-by-step instructions for Monzo, Starling and Tide as three short lists, and say I'll never ask for their banking password.

AI tools can get menu names wrong. Check against the sources below.

Before you start

  • Monzo's Xero feed needs Business Pro or Team.
  • Starling only sends settled transactions.
  • Tide's enhanced Xero Connector is a paid add-on on some plans.
